At an awards ceremony on June 5, 2003 HW&W, Inc. was recognized as the Agricultural Research Service's Woman-Owned Business Contractor of the year. The award citation reads:

FOR PROVIDING OUTSTANDING SUPPORT AND SERVICE TO THE AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH SERVICE OF THE U. S. DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE
The Department of Agriculture sponsors the award program to recognize Small, Small Disadvantaged, and Women-Owned Business concerns who have provided exemplary service during the year. Both contracting personnel and program officials nominate that firm which, they believe, represents the best in each category.

In the nomination letter, the Agricultural Research Service noted that HW&W is currently providing services to both the Cooperative State Research, Education, and Extension Service within ARS, as well as to Departmental Administration, another USDA organization. The nomination reads in part:

"HW&W 's staff is entirely experienced and they bring intimate knowledge of government practices and requirements to the projects. The Agricultural Research Service is extremely pleased with the services provided by this company and they highly recommend them to others. Their past performance record has been excellent."
